Innovative and artisanal, Damyel celebrates its heritage, cultivates its taste for boldness, and transforms cocoa into a new black gold.
In 1988, Richard Uzan founded the Damyel chocolate house. The first boutique opened in the Faubourg Montmartre district with the ambition of democratizing this delicacy and making it an everyday pleasure.
Trained at Lenôtre, Richard Uzan learned the techniques and discovered all the subtleties of this product. Preferring to work with cocoa without altering its nature, he made the bold choice to remove milk from his production. A pioneer in vegan chocolate, he unveiled a chocolate with an authentic flavor and liberated taste.
In 1995, his wife Evelyne joined Damyel, and then in 2005, his son David joined the family business to inject new momentum. Committed to the avant-garde nature of the house, David brought Damyel into the 21st century by delivering his own vision of chocolate: to create products that endure in time, as well as in the memories and palates of those who taste them.
With attention to every ingredient, the recipes are “developed with precision of flavors, harmony of textures, and the” astonishment of the senses. Innovative and artisanal, Damyel celebrates its heritage, cultivates its taste for boldness, and transforms cocoa into a new black gold.
From the workshop to the display, Damyel showcases multiple areas of expertise.
The refinement of raw materials
First, at the source, by sourcing exceptional raw materials such as Piedmont hazelnuts, Sicilian pistachios, and cocoa beans from Guatemala, Jamaica, or Vietnam. Over the years, Damyel has forged strong ties with producers who collaborate closely with the house.
Pioneer of vegan chocolate
Going against the grain of traditional chocolatiers, Damyel opted for vegan. To succeed in this challenge, the house dedicated over ten years to research and development to “adapt its production tools and design creations whose originality and strong identity are its hallmark. Without altering its original aromas, vegan chocolate offers a renewed taste experience where flavors reveal unprecedented, more authentic, and more intense nuances. A universe that extends beyond chocolate to confections, macarons, and most recently, ice creams.”
To taste, to give, to share…
It is in its various settings that the house applies its ultimate touch of refinement: by opening its iconic blue or greige boxes, or by stepping through the door of its boutiques, like the one on Avenue de Wagram. The house’s latest counter was designed as a mineral cocoon, reflecting Damyel’s creations: refined, design-led, and timeless.

With craftsmanship at the core of its work, Damyel develops all its recipes in its workshop, where each manufacturing step is meticulously executed to the highest standards.
Avant-garde in its DNA, Damyel has made vegan its strength. More than a challenge, it’s a genuine commitment based on the desire to put authentic taste back at the heart of the tasting experience. Without a milky coating that dulls the flavors, the chocolates regain a strong identity with less roundness but more frankness.
This return to original flavors also involves a reduction in sugar, a delicate alchemist’s mission. Damyel has thus desugared all its creations without ever losing aromatic power.
Placing craftsmanship at the heart of its work, Damyel develops all its recipes in its workshop, where each manufacturing step is meticulously carried out according to the rules of the art. A vegan and 100% French chocolate that comes in various creations from the house: homemade vegan milk chocolate “Brun”, truffle, ganache, nougat, praline…
Committed to respecting the product and people, Damyel selects the highest quality raw materials from dedicated producers.
